Although the James Cockin filly Melody was sent off a shade of odds-on (4/5 fav), she was game in defeat, failing by a head in a 3 way finish which went to The Scout, with Rosette just a neck away in third. The winner was owned by the Skerries Land Agent John Johnstone and trained by Laurence Keegan at French Furze in County Kildare.
